If all things go according to plan and Anthony develops into a franchise QB, then I'd say the '23 draft will be the single most important draft of Ballard's career.

Biography

COLLEGE:

Appeared in 62 career games (46 starts) at Marshall (2019-23) and totaled 150 tackles (97 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, 55 passes defensed, 12 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one field goal block.
In 2023, he was named a First Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection after he started all 13 games he saw action in and recorded 36 tackles (22 solo), 19 passes defensed, four interceptions and one blocked field goal. Ranked first in the SBC in passes defensed and interceptions.
Appeared in 13 games (12 starts) in 2022 and registered 36 tackles (22 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, 16 passes defensed, six interceptions and one fumble recovery. Earned First Team All-Sun Belt Conference accolades. He tied for the lead in the conference in interceptions (six) and ranked tied for third in FBS. In a win at Notre Dame, he recorded three tackles (one solo), half a tackle for loss, half a sack, one pass defensed and one interception.
In 2021, he earned Second Team All-Conference USA accolades after he started all 13 games he saw action in and compiled 33 tackles (26 solo), half a tackle for loss, 15 passes defensed and one interception.
Saw action in 10 games (one start) in 2020 and tallied nine tackles (six solo), one pass defensed and one forced fumble.
In 2019, he appeared in 13 games (seven starts) and accumulated 36 tackles (21 solo), half a tackle for loss, four passes defensed and one interception returned for a touchdown. Named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. In the Gasparilla Bowl, he tallied three tackles (two solo) and a 75-yard interception returned for a touchdown, which is the longest in that bowl's history.
