The Colts named Daniel Jones their starting quarterback on Tuesday.

Several Colts players are banged up after Saturday's preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers, but head coach Shane Steichen said – for the most part – those players will have time to heal up before the Colts' Sept. 7 season opener. 

Steichen said after Saturday's preseason game he'd like to make a call on his QB1 shortly. 

The Colts wrapped up at Grand Park on Thursday with a two-hour joint practice with the Green Bay Packers. 

Quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. practiced in full on Saturday, less than 48 hours after a dislocated pinkie ended his night in the Colts' preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens. 

Anthony Richardson exited the Colts' preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens after just seven snaps with a dislocated pinkie, giving way to Daniel Jones, who played 31 snaps to finish the first half. The story of the game outside of the Colts' quarterbacks, though, was an impressive preseason debut for rookie first-round tight end Tyler Warren. 

Anthony Richardson Sr. will play about a quarter and a half to start Thursday night's preseason opener, with Daniel Jones playing the remainder of the second quarter. The Colts' plan will then flip in preseason Week 2, with Jones starting against the Green Pay Packers on Aug. 16. 

Both Jones and Richardson will play on Thursday night against the Ravens; we'll likely find out who will start that game after Tuesday's joint practice in Maryland. 

Both Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson had crisp, clean, impressive nights of practice on Thursday at Grand Park. 

Both Jones and Richardson had strong practices on Monday and Tuesday this week, with those two the Colts' first in full pads this training camp. 

The Colts' quarterback competition will begin in earnest with the first training camp practice of 2025, which begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grand Park. 

Richardson missed the end of the Colts' offseason program due to a shoulder injury. 

We'll know a lot more about how the Colts' quarterback competition will play out when Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson Sr. arrive at Grand Park on July 22. But for now, here's where things stand in the Colts' competition for QB1. 

Richardson will miss the remainder of the Colts' offseason program due to aggravation in the AC joint of his right (throwing) shoulder. 

Head coach Shane Steichen said Thursday Richardson is dealing with a shoulder injury and is expected back at some point during training camp.

Quarterback Anthony Richardson (back, foot) did not participate in practice this week, but was not ruled out Friday. He is listed as questionable. 

The Colts play the Tennessee Titans, New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars in the final three games of the regular season.

Anthony Richardson's completion percentage on short and intermediate throws has been mostly right around or above league average since he returned from his two-week benching in Week 11. 

The Colts beat the Patriots 25-24 Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

Jared Goff's career path has hardly been linear, but through all the highs and lows, he's emerged as the quarterback of one of the best offenses in the NFL. 

Richardson completed 20-of-30 passes for a career-high 272 yards and one touchdown, and put up 32 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns against the New York Jets.
