The Indianapolis Colts and RefReps, the leader in sports officiating education, today announced a new collaboration to grow girls flag football in Indiana by providing an innovative edtech platform and sports officiating curriculum to elevate player safety, game quality and opportunity.
The Colts are the first NFL club to offer free RefReps training for girls flag football officials. Open to both current and aspiring officials, this training must be completed before officiating any games to help promote player safety and ensure all officials are well-versed on the rules of the game.
This initiative is another component of the Colts' "Road to 100" campaign to develop girls flag football as a fully sanctioned high school sport in Indiana. By combining this vision with RefReps' cutting-edge education system, the partnership is laying the foundation for safe, structured and sustainable growth of the sport.
"We believe every girl who wants to play should have the opportunity to compete, lead and thrive through flag football," said Andy Matis, Colts Senior Manager of Football Development. "Partnering with RefReps gives officials access to educational tools that will enhance the player experience while improving the quality, safety and consistency of officiating."
RefReps brings a new dimension to the field by equipping coaches, educators and officials with its Officiating Education System™, which features standardized video-based coursework and immersive POV officiating scenarios. Already trusted by more than 37,000 learners globally, the platform ensures that sports officials are equipped with the knowledge they need to keep games fair, safe and impactful.
"This partnership is yet another way the Colts are showing they are true leaders and innovators in the sports world," said Kyle Armstrong, founder & CEO of RefReps. "They understand what it takes to build lasting infrastructure—not just opening doors for girls across Indiana but keeping them open. Their commitment to empowering girls by investing in the development of qualified flag football officials reflects the Colts' bold vision for the future of the sport. This is more than a game—it's a movement, and we're proud to help ensure it's built the right way."
