Wayne is in his fifth season with the Colts as the team's wide receivers coach. He served as a volunteer wide receivers coach with the team during the 2018 offseason program and training camp.
Since 2023, Indianapolis has scored at least 20 points in 38 games, which ranks tied for fifth in the NFL.
In 2025, the Colts offense ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in numerous categories, including yards per game (345.9 – ninth), yards per play (5.78 – eighth), passing yards per game (227.8 – ninth), touchdowns (52 – fifth), points per drive (2.67 – second), points per game (27.4 – eighth), first downs (352 – tied-eighth), third down conversion percentage (42.6 – eighth) and fourth down conversion percentage (66.7 – tied-fifth). From Week 7 of 2024 to Week 10 of 2025, Indianapolis scored either a touchdown or field goal in 71 consecutive red zone possessions, which is the longest streak in league history since 1993. Additionally, the Colts set an NFL record with 13 consecutive games of 300 total yards with at least one passing touchdown and at least one rushing touchdown (Week 16 of 2024 to Week 10 of 2025).
Wide receiver Alec Pierce established single-season career highs in receptions (47) and receiving yards (1,003) while adding six touchdowns. He led the league in yards per reception (21.3 avg.) for the second year in a row. Michael Pittman Jr. caught 80 passes for 784 yards (9.8 avg.) and a single-season career high seven touchdowns. Josh Downs finished with 58 receptions for 566 yards (9.8 avg.) and four touchdowns.
In 2024, Wayne's group was led by Downs (72 receptions for 803 yards and five touchdowns), Pittman Jr. (69 receptions for 808 yards and three touchdowns) and Pierce (37 receptions for 824 yards and seven touchdowns). They were the first trio in the NFL since 2021 to each record 800 receiving yards in a single season. It marked the first time the Colts had three players eclipse 800 receiving yards in a single season since 2004 (Marvin Harrison, Brandon Stokley and Wayne). Pierce led the NFL in average yards per reception (22.3), while registering a career high in receiving touchdowns. Wayne also worked with rookie Adonai Mitchell, whom the team selected in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft. Mitchell played in all 17 games (seven starts) and compiled 23 receptions for 312 yards.
The Indianapolis offense finished in the top 10 in the NFL in points per game (23.3 – tied-10th) and rushing yards per game (121.1 – 10th) in 2023. Wayne guided Pittman Jr. to a career year as he tallied single-season career highs in receptions (109) and receiving yards (1,152) while also adding four touchdowns. Pittman Jr. ranked fifth in the NFL in receptions. He became just the fourth Colts player all-time to have at least 100 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards in a season (Dallas Clark, Harrison and Wayne).
Wayne also tutored Downs, whom the team selected in the third round (79th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. Downs appeared in all 17 games (nine starts) and compiled 68 receptions for 771 yards and two touchdowns. In team history, he finished first in receptions and fifth in receiving yards by a rookie. Downs ranked seventh in receptions and receiving yards among all rookies in 2023.
In 2022, Wayne's group totaled 224 receptions for 2,451 yards and 10 touchdowns. Pittman Jr. led the team with 99 receptions for 925 yards and four touchdowns. Parris Campbell established single-season career highs in receptions (63), receiving yards (623) and receiving touchdowns (three). Wayne helped develop Pierce, whom the team selected in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. Pierce finished his first season with 41 receptions for 593 yards and two touchdowns. Among NFL rookies, Pierce ranked in the top 10 in receptions (ninth), receiving yards (sixth) and receiving touchdowns (tied for seventh).
In 14 seasons with Indianapolis, Wayne played in 211 games (197 starts), which are the most games played in franchise history, and tallied 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns. He currently ranks 11th all-time in NFL history in receptions and 10th in receiving yards. Wayne ranks second in Colts history in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. His eight 1,000-yard receiving seasons are tied for the most in franchise history. Wayne registered 43 100-yard receiving games, which is the second-most in team history. He played in 189 consecutive games from 2001-2013, which is the third-longest streak in Colts history. Wayne tallied a reception in a franchise-record 205 games. He was originally selected by Indianapolis in the first round (30th overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft.
In the postseason, Wayne started all 21 contests he played in and caught 93 passes for 1,254 yards and nine touchdowns. In the playoffs, he ranks in the top 10 in league history in receptions (sixth), receiving yards (seventh) and receiving touchdowns (tied-10th).
A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Wayne was an Associated Press First Team All-Pro choice in 2010. He was also named NFL Offensive Player of the Week (1/9/05 vs. Denver – playoffs) and AFC Offensive Player of the Week (10/7/12 vs. Green Bay).
Wayne was inducted into the team's Ring of Honor in 2018 and was a member of Indianapolis' Super Bowl XLI victory.
He served in the community during his entire playing career. Wayne gave away more than 1,500 turkeys each Thanksgiving, hosted a Christmas adoption program to provide gifts for nearly 300 families, assisted with the "Saving Our Youth" Celebrity Basketball Tournament at the Indiana Black Expo in 2013 and donated tickets to local youth at each Colts game. In 2011, he was the recipient of the Colts' Man of the Year award.
Collegiately, Wayne played in 43 games (42 starts) in four seasons (1997-2000) at Miami (FL) and tallied 173 receptions for 2,510 yards and 20 touchdowns. He left the school with the all-time record for receptions and at the time was only one of three players in school history to record at least 20 receiving touchdowns (Michael Irvin and Lamar Thomas). Wayne was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
He participated in the 2001 Senior Bowl. He was selected to the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame in 2021 and was named to the 75th Anniversary Team in 2023.
Wayne attended John Ehret High School in Marrero, La. and was a two-time all-state honoree. He also competed in the 200-yard meter dash and various relays in track. Wayne was inducted into the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame in 2021 and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.
