RB-EDGERRIN JAMES (on the first week of practice)
"We are looking good. We are looking real smooth as an offense and we are only going to get better."
RB-EDGERRIN JAMES (on his health)
"It not a matter of knowing what you are capable of doing, but it is just a matter of staying healthy. I have been working hard, doing everything I can and, hopefully, it will stay that way."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on practice)
"I think we made a few mistakes and things we can teach off of, but, overall, the effort was good, the energy was good. It was great to see the Blue Team score after getting shut out last year. Really, you want situations that you can teach off and get the young guys to compete against real good players.
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the bright spots of practice)
"Our offense was able to overcome some yardage situations. I thought our young quarterbacks handled the pass rush and all of the other situations well, which was good to see."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the offense)
"Peyton (Manning) knows our defenses so well, all of the audibles and putting them in the right place. The offense overcame some things. I thought our runners ran well with Edgerrin James, Ricky Williams and James Mungro."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the wide receiver corps)
"Reggie (Wayne) made a big catch. That is the type of thing that gives your team a spark. We expect a lot out of Marcus Pollard. Joe Dean Davenport made a couple of catches today. We have some young guys that can make those types of catches. Brandon Stokley is going to be a big-play player for us. I think we all are excited about our offense."
LB-DAVID THORNTON (on how the defense is coming along)
"The guys have a better understanding of the defensive schemes. Guys were flying around, and, hopefully, we will continually see improvement."
QB-PEYTON MANNING (on today's scrimmage)
"We were able to move the ball, get a lot of plays and get some long drives together. We overcame some long down distances and penalties. We were able to complete a couple of long down conversions to Reggie Wayne and our two touchdown passes to our tight ends Marcus Pollard and Joe Dean Davenport. I thought Marvin Harrison had some big plays and we ran the ball pretty well."
QB-PEYTON MANNING (on the progression of the offense during the first week)
"It is a good start for us. I feel like we really picked up where we left off in our mini-camp. I think we have even taken a few steps forward, which is encouraging.
