Defensive Coordinator Meeks Resigns After Seven Seasons
INDIANAPOLIS – The Colts' coaching staff underwent another change Tuesday.

Ron Meeks, the Colts' defensive coordinator the past seven seasons, has resigned the position, the club announced Tuesday afternoon.

The announcement came six days after the Colts announced that the contract of Russ Purnell – the special teams coach the past seven seasons – had not been renewed. That move came a day after Jim Caldwell, also a Colts assistant the past seven seasons, was promoted from associate head coach to head coach.

Caldwell replaced Tony Dungy, the Colts' head coach since 2002.

Caldwell last week said that said Frank Reich, an offensive assistant this past season, had been promoted to quarterbacks coach. Reich played quarterback for 14 NFL seasons with Buffalo, Carolina, the New York Jets and Detroit.
