Cornerback Sauce Gardner (calf) was listed as a non-participant on the Colts' Wednesday practice report ahead of their Week 17 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Head coach Shane Steichen said on Wednesday that Gardner is "progressing well" and the hope is to get him back in time for Sunday's game at Lucas Oil Stadium. Gardner has missed three games (and three consecutive weeks of practice) with the calf injury, which he sustained early in the Colts' Week 13 game against the Houston Texans.
When asked last week if Gardner would play again this season, Steichen answered confidently with a "Yes."
With Gardner still working through his injury and Charvarius Ward Sr. on injured reserve, the Colts have primarily been using cornerbacks Kenny Moore II, Mekhi Blackmon, Johnathan Edwards and Cameron Mitchell.
The Colts on Wednesday also opened wide receiver Ashton Dulin's 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve. Steichen on Wednesday said quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. (eye) would not be activated from injured reserve this week; Richardson's 21-day practice window was opened last week. Safety Daniel Scott also remains on injured reserve.
The Colts held a walkthrough on Wednesday, so the practice report is an estimation of a player's participation if there was a practice.
