HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On K-Matt Stover) * *
"He's doing a great job for us. He fits in extremely well in terms of handling his duties and responsibilities. He's mature. He's done an exceptional job."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On having two kickers on the roster)
"We have two great ones. It's a very unique situation. That's just the way it is right now. We feel good about our options in this particular case."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On learning from past playoffs)
"I think you have to be able to look back and assess everything. That's part of our job. Also you have to understand and know it's really what you do here and now that makes a difference. There are so many other factors involved."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (On the status on the running game at this point)
"From a statistical standpoint, the fact of the matter is it's not very good. I certainly don't feel that way from a schematic standpoint what we were able to get during ballgames. I'm not trying to rationalize a poor performance away in a particular area. That's a quick way to become mediocre. We are still scratching to get it better. We need to get better. I do think there are times when we need to run the ball and we've been able to run the ball effectively. In this particular case, the numbers can be a bit misleading. I think we are a better running team than our numbers indicate. The fact of the matter is we still have to get better. A lot of it is execution. Everything has to be right in order to get it done. Our precision has not been quite where we'd like it to be consistently. The one thing I learned when I first came into this league, I was talking to (Howard Mudd) and he was saying we do a lot of things in order to make certain we get in the right play. Then Howard (Mudd) said, 'That's the thing about this league. It's tough to get that (yard) much.' Everything has to be right in order to get that done. There's no question about it. It is difficult sometimes to get a yard. Sometimes it doesn't seem like it should be. The fact of the matter is you have to execute and execute well in order to get that done."
