HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on his appointment to be a member of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation) Training Camp
"I had heard it was in the mix for awhile, and it is just a great honor. It is something we always talk about here with our team, about serving your community and being part of the community and trying to make things better. To be appointed by the President is obviously a once in a lifetime type thrill."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on receiving the call) Training Camp
"It was after we went and visited the White House. We kind of talked a little bit about it and they called and asked if I would be willing to serve. Of course, you would. I didn't know how it all had to transpire. Apparently they had to do some kind of checking and that kind of thing. I came through the process alright but it was quite an honor and something you can still hardly believe."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on his role in the council) Training Camp
"Well, I think my role is just to do what we do, to show people how we have tried to serve and be that beacon here. Then, to help out with any type of ideas and information when they ask."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on splitting his time between the Colts and the Council) Training Camp
"That's a good question. I know, it's like I told Peyton, some calls you just have to take. When they call, you have to be ready no matter what."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on his reaction to finding out there was an interest in him) Training Camp
"It was something that was really hard to believe. You know, certainly when you go into coaching football, you aren't expecting to get Presidential appointments into anything. So it was really just beyond the scope of anything that I ever thought about."
