Colts defensive end Laiatu Latu (hamstring) and cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. (concussion) both returned to practice on Wednesday ahead of the Colts' Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans. Both players were sidelined all of Week 2 and missed the Colts' win over the Denver Broncos.
Ward is still in concussion protocol, head coach Shane Steichen said Wednesday, but the cornerback was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's practice report. Also listed as a full participant for the first time since the season began was running back Tyler Goodson (elbow); Goodson sustained his injury in the Colts' second preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.
Latu was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice report; Steichen said they would "see how the week goes" for the second-year defensive end.
Even with the win against the Broncos on Sunday, the Colts' defense struggled at times throughout without two of its key starters, earning an overall performance grade of 55.1 from Pro Football Focus (for reference, they earned 70.1 overall grade in Week 1 vs. the Dolphins). With the first division game of the season fast-approaching, Wednesday was a good sign for the Colts in terms of getting their defense back to full strength.
Tight end Tyler Warren (toe) and wide receiver Josh Downs (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.
