INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard is sponsoring the Indianapolis Employment Opportunities 2009 Career Fair on Tuesday, June 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Exhibit Halls 1 and 2 of Lucas Oil Stadium, with the assistance of the Indianapolis Private Industry Council (IPIC) and Indianapolis Economic Development, Inc. (IEDI).

"The goal of this event is simple, to connect people to new jobs and new careers.  There are still companies hiring, and we are pleased a number of them have already registered to attend," stated Mayor Ballard.

"We are prepared for a large turnout and encourage both employers and jobseekers to make plans to attend now."

The event is open to the public at no admission cost, but advanced registration is recommended.  Individuals interested in seeking employment are invited to register and find more information on the website: www.indycareerfair09.com.

Businesses in Central Indiana have been invited to participate by renting exhibit booths and meeting with people interested in applying for jobs.  Businesses may find more information about participating by visiting the website: www.indycareerfair09.com.

"This is an ideal workforce development activity for our organizations, IPIC and IEDI, since our goal is to connect businesses and members of the workforce with job opportunities," commented Brooke Huntington, president/CEO of IPIC.

"We are excited that we can bring this opportunity to members of the community."

The career fair is funded in part by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
