EYE ON CAMP

A new home means new situations.

That's true for the Colts with Lucas Oil Stadium, and Head Coach Tony Dungy wants to ensure as the transition is as smooth as possible.

For that reason, the Colts likely will practice at the stadium on Tuesday, August 19, Dungy said on Monday. The Colts will play their first preseason game in the stadium against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, August 24.

Dungy said the main focus of the Colts' practice in the new stadium will be logistics such as the location of the team hotel, locker-room locations, parking and elevators.

"All of those things we kind of knew by heart (at the RCA Dome)," Dungy said. "We'll have enough time on the field in two preseason games, but sometimes those can be the biggest headaches – where's my wife's elevator? Hopefully, we can get a lot of that ironed out."

UNWANTED EXTRA

Overtime? In a preseason game?

It doesn't occur often in the NFL, and it hasn't happened to the Colts since 1993. But it happened on Saturday when Carolina beat Indianapolis, 23-20, in overtime at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.

It was the fourth overtime preseason game in Colts franchise history and a situation Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy said is typically avoided.

"I would say this – I think (Panthers Head Coach) John Fox was the same as me in that we were playing to avoid overtime," Dungy said. "We were trying to win the game in regulation, then when you get into overtime, you're trying to win it as fast as you can. Both of us probably made some decisions you wouldn't normally make in a regular-season game.

"It is what it is. I thought our guys played hard. Both sides wanted to win and you can't tell the guys who are out there, 'Don't try to win the game.' I was fine with it.

"We had a few guys play more than we planned. But that goes with the territory."

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"I feel good. I'm hoping they're looking and noticing I can contribute to the team. I feel like I've done well. Obviously, I have a lot to work on, but I feel like I'm making some progress. Camp has been a great experience this year. Last year, it was so hard. I didn't know what was going on. . . . This year, that aspect of it isn't so hard."

TRIVIA QUIZ

Of the top 10 receiving seasons in Colts history in terms of number of receptions, wide receiver Marvin Harrison has seven and wide receiver Reggie Wayne has two. Who has the other?

DUNGY SAYS

"Those guys (reserve quarterbacks Jared Lorenzen and Quinn Gray) in the first two games have made plays getting out of the pocket and have made long runs. When people are playing man coverage against you, that's one of the downsides of it. Since I've been here, not many of our guys have been that way. It gives you an extra threat you have to defend."

--- Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy

TRIVIA ANSWER

Running back Marshall Faulk, who caught 86 passes in 1998.
