Donald Brown Named Finalist for Player-of-the-Week Honors
INDIANAPOLIS – Colts running back Donald Brown has been named a finalist for FedEx Ground NFL Player-of-the-Week honors, the NFL announced on Tuesday. Fans can vote for winners on NFL.com/FedEx from 9 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday through noon (ET) on Friday to determine the Players-of-the-Week.
Brown had 14 carries for a career-high 129 yards—a 9.2-yard average—and one touchdown in the Colts' 34-24 win last Sunday vs. Jacksonville. Brown helped the Colts improve to 8-6 and move into a first-place tie with Jacksonville with two games remaining. Brown had two carries over 40 yards. His first-quarter 49-yard run was the longest by a Colts running back since 2004, and his 43-yard third-quarter touchdown run was the longest touchdown run for the Colts since 2001. Brown's 129-yard effort was his first career 100-plus-yard rushing game.
The winners will be announced Friday evening on NFL.com. New this year, fans will be able to keep tabs on the achievements of their favorite Air & Ground players (and others) with the NFL Milestone Tracker, presented by FedEx.
Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program, FedEx continues its support of Safe Kids USA by making weekly $2,000 donations in each of the winning players' names. The funding, allocated to local Safe Kids coalitions in that team's city, is used for pedestrian safety improvements throughout the year, from upgraded crosswalks and safety signs to traffic barriers and educational training.
Also nominated for Ground Player-of-the-Week honors were Kansas City's Jamaal Charles and Baltimore's Ray Rice.
