Head Coach Tony Dungy Post-Practice Quotes

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the practice plan for the week) Training Camp “We have lifting this afternoon and then special teams, then see if we can use the first part of this week really on fundamentals and try to improve on some of the things that were lacking a little bit in the game.

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the practice plan for the week) *Training Camp *

"We have lifting this afternoon and then special teams, then see if we can use the first part of this week really on fundamentals and try to improve on some of the things that were lacking a little bit in the game."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on his first impressions of DT-Ed Johnson) Training Camp

"Ed Johnson did a pretty good job.  I'd say for 80% of the time, he really made some things happen, kind of reverted back to some old techniques when he got tired a little bit, but did a good job.  I thought our defensive line as a whole rushed the passer pretty well, and all in all for our first time out, it wasn't bad."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on RB-DeDe Dorsey's performance against the Cowboys) Training Camp

"DeDe did pretty well.  His second stint in there was better than his first one.  I think he relaxed and just kind of calmed down a little bit.  All in all, I thought he and Clifton (Dawson) did a good job."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the new cornerbacks, Kelvin Hayden and Marlin Jackson) Training Camp

"I thought they played very fast and very physical.  We got a holding penalty on a call on Terrell Owens and I am just not quite sure officials are used to seeing him getting jammed up like that.  I think the guy assumed that since Terrell Owens couldn't get off the line of scrimmage, it must be holding.  It was right in front of me and kind of tough to see, but they did a good job and really played fast and tackled well.  They are different style players [than Jason David and Nick Harper], no question, and we used what Jason and Nick gave us and played to their strengths.  These guys will have different strengths and we will play to them."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the great physical shape of WR-Marvin Harrison) Training Camp

"It just reminds me a lot of Jerry Rice, Frank Lewis, and John Stalwarth and some of the guys I've seen in the past who know how to do it.  They know their bodies, they get themselves ready to go. They just seem like they don't lose anything from five years before or 10 years before.  It is kind of amazing.  Marvin is practicing the same way that I saw him in 2002.  We haven't monitored his reps at all.  He still wants to take all the work.  He just really doesn't look any different."
