Indianapolis – Chris DePew of Garrett High School has been named the Colts Flag Football Coach of the Week, the Indianapolis Colts announced today.
DePew earned this recognition after being nominated by his fellow coaches and athletic directors from the Indiana High School Girls Flag Football League. The Railroaders (3-0) continued their fine play this past week with a 28-6 win over Churubusco. Garrett has outscored it first three opponents 90-19.
What's more, DePew is the first coach in Indiana history to be named Colts "Coach of the Week" in both tackle football and girls flag football.
The following coaches also were recognized as honorable mentions for Week 2: :

Region 2: Shaunna Tewell – New Prairie
Region 4: Darryl Lewis – Clarksville
Region 5: Greg Person – Ben Davis
Region 6: Tiffany Bailey – Believe Circle City
This season marks the second year the Colts are recognizing outstanding high school girls flag football coaches throughout Indiana. Each week, following a slate of girls flag football games, one coach will be announced as the honoree.
All head coaches within the Colts league are eligible regardless of their school size or region. Coaches are evaluated on various factors including the coach's impact on the team, school and community, as well as the team's performance. The honorees are nominated by their fellow league mates, consisting of coaches and athletic directors.
At the conclusion of the high school girls flag season, each winning coach will receive a $1,000 donation from the NFL Foundation, as well as a commemorative plaque.
