Injuries and low numbers forced both Edinburgh and Irvington Prep Academy to cancel their last two regular season contests. Both programs, along with Tri-Central and Christel House Manual, will not participate in the IHSAA state tournament, which starts on October 24.
Beech Grove has forfeited its first three victories (Greenfield-Central, Jennings County, and Indianapolis Scecina) for using an ineligible player. The Hornets self-reported this to the IHSAA and currently stand 3-6.
With his 271 yards and four touchdowns in a 64-0 blanking of Bowman Academy on October 16, Knox's Myles McLaughlin became just the second player in Indiana to surpass 10,000 rushing yards for his career. Heading into the post-season, he has 10,127 career yards and 151 rushing scores and has accounted 3,134 yards and 48 touchdowns on 267 attempts so far this season. The all-time rushing leader is Charlie Spegal of New Palestine, who accumulated 10,867 yards.
New Palestine's Kyle Ralph notched his 150th career win the Dragons' 56-7 win against Delta on October 17.
Travis Nolting of Greenfield-Central earned his 100th career victory with the Cougars' 24-13 decision over Delta on October 10.
South Spencer sophomore lineman JaQuar Johnson is back home after suffering a concussion and neck injury during the Rebels' contest at North Central (Farmersburg) on October 10. He has full use of all of his extremities and his CT scan and MRI results both came back negative. The game was called in the third quarter with North Central declared a 20-13 winner.
With his two touchdown passes in a 42-0 win against Perry Meridian on October 10, Decatur Central signal caller Bo Polston is now the program's all-time leader with 62 touchdowns for his career.
LaVille's 28-27 overtime win over Jimtown on October 10 was the Lancers' first triumph in the series since 1990.
Rochester stopped Maconaquah's 17-game regular season winning streak with a 48-6 decision on October 17.
Mitchell had its 13-game losing streak come to an end with a 23-20 win over Perry Central on October 17.
Eastbrook ended Mississinewa's 30-game regular season winning streak with a 35-14 triumph on October 10.
Mishawaka's Steele Stadium is one of 25 finalists in the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights contest. The winning school gets one million dollars to use towards football stadium renovation. The promotion awards $25,000 to each of the finalists, too, so Mishawaka will be getting some money regardless of if they win the grand prize. Mishawaka is the only school from Indiana selected. Fans are allowed to vote for the grand prize winner once per day on the promotion's website (www.t-mobile.com/brand/friday-night-5g-lights) through October 24. The winner will be announced October 30.
Lapel and Riverton Parke are 9-0 for the first time in program history.
Hammond Central, New Albany, and South Central are 0-9 for the first time in program history.
