Former Colts left tackle Anthony Castonzo reflects on NFL career in special episode of 'The Jack Doyle Podcast'

Former Colts Pro Bowl tight end Jack Doyle sat down with his former teammate to discuss everything from their earliest football memories to the current state of the Colts on a special edition of "The Jack Doyle Podcast."

On a special offseason episode of "The Jack Doyle Podcast," former Colts Pro Bowl tight end Jack Doyle caught up with his former Colts teammate left tackle Anthony Castonzo to reminisce on their NFL careers, discuss the current state of the Colts and more.

Castonzo was selected by the Colts in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, and spent his 10-year NFL career with the Colts, and Doyle was signed by the Colts in 2013 and remained with the team until his retirement after the 2021 season. The two men spent the majority of their NFL careers together and became good friends because of it, leading to many laughs throughout the podcast.

Some of the many topics Doyle and Castonzo discussed on the podcast were how Castonzo stayed dedicated and consistent at a position that doesn't often get the recognition he deserved, and how he benefited from going up against his defensive line teammates every day in practice.

"I believe games are won in the offseason and in practice," Castonzo said. "And I thought that by the time you got to the game, nothing should be harder than what you've prepared for.

"...In my estimation, you should hate the guy you're playing against on scout team more than anyone, but you should also deeply love them more than anyone on the team. That relationship was so important to me, and I recognize that you only get so many reps during the week, and if you waste any it's just going to make it harder for you on Sunday."

The two men also reminisced on Castonzo's one career target that turned into his lone catch and touchdown -- "My claim to fame for the rest of my life is that Reggie Wayne was used as a decoy for me so I could get open to score a touchdown," he said -- and other fun memories from their shared time with the Colts, as well as what led to Castonzo making the switch from tight end to left tackle as a young player.

To round out the podcast, the duo offered their perspectives on how they "get their football fix" in retirement and what Castonzo is observing in current NFL left tackles and the Colts offensive line.
