Fantasy Football: Week 9 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em, Pick 'Em Up!

It was a big waiver wire week, but which of those new additions should be in lineups right away?

Colts Media Reporter Steve Andress' picks for the top fantasy matchups this week.

Week 9 Start 'Em (16+ points for QBs, 10+ for RB/WR; 36-15 for season, 5-1 last week)

Giants QB Eli Manning (@ TB) -  After scoring less than 16 points in his two previous games combined, Manning exploded for 350 yards and 6 TDs against New Orleans. He's in line for another 20+ point day against Tampa Bay, who has allowed 4 passing TDs twice this year to Jacksonville and Tennessee.

Bears QB Jay Cutler (@ SD) - With 6 teams on a bye this week, you may be in need of a QB. Consider Cutler, who has scored at least 17 points in 4 consecutive games. He now faces the Chargers without Matt Forte, which should mean more passing in a game that's projected to be one of the highest scoring games of the weekend.

Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (vs. OAK) - He's a top-12 RB for the rest of the season. Don't hesitate in starting him, especially in a great match-up.

Bears RB Jeremy Langford (@ SD) - Again, it's a heavy bye week, and you may need RB help. Langford is Matt Forte's replacement and should get a bell cow sized workload. The volume should lead to a high floor against the Chargers run defense that's bottom five in the league.

Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (vs. CHI) - Keenan Allen is out of the season, which means Johnson should take over the high-percentage routes in the Chargers offense, one in which Philip Rivers is on pace to break the single-season passing yards record. Plus, the Bears secondary offers a plus match-up.

Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (@ BUF) - The Dolphins are running more 2 WR sets since the coaching change, which means Tannehill has less options to target. Did we mention Matthews also had 6 receptions, 113 yards, and 2 TDs week 3 against Buffalo? Matthews has been consistent the past three weeks as well, hauling in 16 catches for 222 yards and a score. Good flex play this week.

SLEEPER OF THE WEEK - Bucs QB Jameis Winston: Did I mention the Giants gave up 52 points last week? Plus, Winston hasn't thrown an interception in 3 straight games.

TIGHT END WEEK 5 SLEEPER - Washington TE Jordan Reed...how he's only owned in 28.6% of NFL.com leagues is mind boggling. Go increase that number this week and start him. He's had at least 80 yards or a touchdown in EVERY game he's played in this year.

Honorable Mention - Saints RB C.J. Spiller: I want to see how much his role increases first before starting him with Khiry Robinson out for the year, but Spiller is a good trade target, considering you can probably get him for other bench players.

Week 9 Sit 'Em ( < 16 points for QBs, < 10 for RB/WR; 33-14 on the season, 3-3 last week)

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (@ NYJ): Bortles is the #11 QB this year, and that's after his bye week. He was even higher before then. Bortles struggled though against Buffalo's defense though before the bye, and I'm not optimistic about the match-up with the Jets defense.

Bills QB Tyrod Taylor (vs. MIA) - He was a QB1 before his injury, but I think the Dolphins defense is improved since the first meeting between these two teams. I think there are plenty of other options out there. Let's see Taylor do it again first before putting him back in fantasy lineups.

Giants RB Rashad Jennings (@ TB) - The Bucs are 7th in the NFL, allowing just 3.7 yards per carry on the ground. This is a full blown RB by committee for the Giants, and I suspect Shane Vereen will be more effective as a pass catcher out of the backfield in this one.

Eagles RB DeMarco Murray (@ DAL) - Murray had 13 carries for 2 yards against Dallas in week 2. He's healthier now but is still splitting the the workload with a more effective Ryan Mathews. I'm very skeptical.

Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (vs. SEA) - The Eagles defense has been sneaky good this year (look at their fantasy ranking), and I just can't trust Dez Bryant until Tony Romo is back. I'm a firm believer that your fantasy WRs are only as good as the QB throwing them the ball.

Packers WR Randall Cobb (@ CAR) - CB Josh Norman aka Norman Penitentiary, and Cobb will be serving hard time on Sunday. Plus, Cobb hasn't had 50 yards since week 3.
