Colts Sign Linebacker Darnell Sankey To Active Roster; Place Krishawn Hogan On IR

The Indianapolis Colts today elevated inside linebacker Darnell Sankey to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and signed running back Marcus Murphy to the practice squad. The team also placed wide receiver Krishawn Hogan on the Injured Reserve List.

Sankey, 6-2, 250 pounds, has spent time on the Colts' active roster and practice squad this season. He saw action in Week 2 vs. Arizona. Sankey spent time on the practice squads of the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders as a rookie in 2016.

Murphy, 5-9, 195 pounds, spent Weeks 1-4 on the New York Jets' practice squad this season. He has played in 16 career games and has compiled 19 kickoff returns for 405 yards (21.3 avg.) and 34 punt returns for 318 yards (9.4 avg.) and one touchdown in his time with the New Orleans Saints (2015-16). Murphy has also tallied one carry for zero yards and caught one pass for three yards. He was originally selected by the Saints in the seventh round (230th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Missouri.

In 2016, Murphy saw action in three games and registered seven kickoff returns for 105 yards (15.0 avg.) and six punt returns for 57 yards (9.5 avg.). He also caught one pass for three yards. Murphy appeared in 13 games as a rookie in 2015 and finished with 12 kickoff returns for 300 yards (25.0 avg.) and 28 punt returns for 261 yards (9.3 avg.) and one touchdown. He also had one carry for zero yards.

Hogan, 6-3, 222 pounds, was elevated to Indianapolis' 53-man roster from the practice squad on September 26 and played in Week 4 at Seattle and Week 5 vs. San Francisco. He was originally signed to the Colts' practice squad on September 4. The Indianapolis native participated in the Arizona Cardinals' 2017 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. Hogan originally signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2017.
