The Colts on Friday ruled out cornerback Sauce Gardner (calf) for their Week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium, head coach Shane Steichen said.
Gardner sustained his injury in the first quarter of the Colts' Week 13 loss to the Houston Texans. Steichen said earlier this week Gardner will not be placed on injured reserve, and the Colts are hopeful he will return – but the All-Pro cornerback is still expected to "miss some time." In Gardner's stead, Mekhi Blackmon and Jaylon Jones are both likely to see their playing time increase alongside starters Charvarius Ward Sr. and Kenny Moore II.
Defensive end Tyquan Lewis (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday; he was not ruled out.
Linebacker Jaylon Carlies (ankle) was a full participant this week for the third consecutive week. The Colts opened his 21-day practice window on Nov. 19 and will have to activate Carlies from IR in order for him to play this weekend.
Check back later for Friday's full practice report.
