Colts Claim Former Chiefs Tight End Ross Travis

Intro: The Indianapolis Colts today claimed tight end Ross Travis off waivers (from Kansas City) and signed center Anthony Fabiano to the practice squad. The team also waived wide receiver Matt Hazel and released defensive tackle Jeremy Liggins from the practice squad.

The Indianapolis Colts today claimed tight end Ross Travis off waivers (from Kansas City) and signed center Anthony Fabiano to the practice squad. The team also waived wide receiver Matt Hazel and released defensive tackle Jeremy Liggins from the practice squad.

Travis, 6-7, 235 pounds, has played in 17 career NFL games (six starts) and caught eight passes for 58 yards in his time with the Chiefs from 2015-17. He appeared in 11 games (three starts) with Kansas City this season and tallied five receptions for 43 yards. In 2016, Travis appeared in six games (three starts) and caught three passes for 15 yards. As a rookie in 2015, he spent time on the Chiefs practice squad. Travis originally signed with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent on September 8, 2015.

Collegiately, Travis played basketball for four seasons (2011-14) at Penn State. He played in 131 games (96 starts) and totaled 816 rebounds, 92 assists, 37 blocks, 77 steals and 831 points. Travis finished fourth in the Big 10 Conference in rebounds per game during his sophomore and junior seasons.

Fabiano, 6-1, 303 pounds, has spent time on the practice squads of the New England Patriots, New York Giants and Washington Redskins this season. As a rookie in 2016, he spent time on the Cleveland Browns' active roster and practice squad. Fabiano originally signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2016.

Collegiately, Fabiano started 29-of-32 games at Harvard at guard and tackle. As a senior in 2015, he was a First Team All-Ivy League selection.

Hazel, 6-1, 195 pounds, has spent time on the Colts' active roster and practice squad this season. He was originally claimed by Indianapolis off waivers (from Washington) on September 3, 2017. Hazel saw action in three games for the Colts this season and caught one pass for one yard. He has appeared in eight career NFL games (one start) in his time with Indianapolis (2017), Washington (2016), the Buffalo Bills (2016) and the Miami Dolphins (2014-15).

Liggins, 6-3, 315 pounds, was signed to the Colts practice squad on November 21. He spent time on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad earlier this season. Liggins participated in the Seattle Seahawks' 2017 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on September 2. He originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2017.
