COLTS, CARGO SERVICES HELP FOSTER YOUTH

This week Colts OT Ryan Diem teamed up with Cargo Services to provide backpacks filled with books for local foster youth through the Books for Youth initiative.

**Ryan Diem Helps Distribute Backpacks and Books

* INDIANAPOLIS - On Monday, November 9, the Indianapolis Colts joined with Cargo Services to help give 40 Indiana foster youth a very special experience. Colts Offensive Tackle Ryan Diem helped distribute backpacks filled with 25 books to each child as a part of the Books for Youth initiative, which was started by the Colts and the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) in 2006. After the youngsters received their backpack from Diem, they had the opportunity to walk through the Colts in Motion traveling museum, meet Colts Cheerleaders, and enjoy snacks, compliments of Cargo Services.*

Toward the end of the evening, the Colts mascot, Blue, also provided a special performance of his P.R.I.D.E program for the children and their families. This interactive and educational program is typically only done in elementary schools during the season.

About Books for Youth
Through the Books for Youth initiative, the Colts and DCS are working to provide every foster child in the State of Indiana with a backpack filled with 25 age-appropriate books. Since 2006, they have collected nearly 500,000 books across the state and are currently working to sort and distribute these books to thousands of foster children. About Blue's P.R.I.D.E. Program
This 45-minute program is based on the following acronym: Physical fitness,Respect for yourself and others, Intelligent decisions, Diet, Education

Blue and his emcee, Kat, lead the audience through each letter with bright visuals, magic tricks, and audience participation. Students receive a clear message with a hefty dose of humor! Blue will take his P.R.I.D.E. message to 75 elementary schools this season. The program, in its third year, is presented by Arby's and is free to schools.
