INDIANAPOLIS – Who will be the Colts' backup quarterback in 2016?

That question became a serious inquiry again on Monday.

The Colts released Josh Freeman, who was thought to be the backup after Matt Hasselbeck indicated his time in Indianapolis was over and Charlie Whitehurst entering free agency.

Besides Andrew Luck, Stephen Morris (no NFL pass attempts) is the only Colts' quarterback under contract for 2016.

Freeman's stint in Indy was short, yet noteworthy.

Signed in Week 17, Freeman started in the victory over the Titans and completed 15-of-28 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

We will see if the Colts are now in the market to sign a quarterback in the coming days/weeks.
