The Colts on Wednesday opened the 21-day practice window for wide receiver Ashton Dulin to be activated from injured reserve. He can be activated at any point.

Dulin was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury in Week 13; he sustained the injury during the Colts' Week 12 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The seven-year veteran is a crucial part of the Colts special teams and a veteran piece in the wide receiver room, and is consistently referred to as a "total package" kind of player and one of the best special teams players in the NFL. In 10 games this season, Dulin has five receptions for 106 yards and three carries for 44 yards and has returned 10 kicks for over 20 yards each (with an average of 29.8 yards per return, and the longest being a 50-yard return).

Dulin has a Pro Football Focus grade of 91.1 on kick returns, good for best in the league, and on Tuesday was named a Pro Bowl alternate for the second time in his career.

In Dulin's absence, wide receiver Coleman Owen and running back Ameer Abdullah have handled kick returns and punt returns; wide receiver Anthony Gould, the team's other primary returner, has also missed time due to a foot injury.
