The Indianapolis Colts today signed wide receiver DeAndre Smelter to a reserve/future contract.

Smelter was selected in the 14th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins, but elected to play collegiately before pursuing his professional career. He originally attended Georgia Tech on a baseball scholarship before joining the football team during the summer of 2013. Smelter saw action in 25 games (20 starts) for the Yellow Jackets' football team and compiled 56 receptions for 1,060 yards and 11 touchdowns. He participated briefly on the baseball team in 2014 before opting to focus on football.
