INDIANAPOLIS – A few weeks back, Colts.com took a look where some of the mock drafts have the Colts turning at pick No. 59.
We are less than 36 hours away from the start of the 2014 NFL Draft and there is still little consensus on any of the top picks.
That obviously makes things very difficult to calculate all the way down to pick No. 59 on Friday night.
Below is a compilation of four mock drafts from around the NFL with the Colts potential selections at No. 59.
59. Xavier Su'a-Filo, OG, UCLA**ESPN’s Mel Kiper and Tood McShay (Co-author Mock Draft)**
Analysis: My run on interior offensive linemen reaches three, as the Colts make their first appearance of the draft. Guard is a need area, and Su'a-Filo is the No. 1 guy at the position on my board.Bowen's Analysis:Not many mock drafts have Su'a-Filo dropping this far. With tackles figuring to go at a pretty high rate in round one, that will push the top interior guys down the board. The question now becomes will Su'a-Filo drop all the way to 59?
59. Jimmie Ward, SS, Northern Illinois**NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks**
Analysis: Ward is a gifted ball hawk with terrific instincts and awareness. He lacks ideal size, but he is a nice fit as a center fielder in the Colts' scheme.Bowen's Analysis:At 5-11, 192 pounds, Ward might not be as physically imposing as a LaRon Landry but he could be the ideal complement to the current Colts starting safety. Similar to Su'a-Filo, Ward has found himself much higher in mock drafts but there is some smoke that he could be around during the latter portion of Friday night's second round.
59. Marcus Martin, C, USC**Walter Football**
Analysis: The Colts' top priority has to be protecting Andrew Luck, so they're expected to use one of their second-day choices on a lineman. Center is their biggest need.*

*Bowen's Analysis:With the recent Phil Costa news, the popular consensus in mock drafts has shifted to primarily safety and interior offensive linemen. Martin has seemed to emerge as the top center prospect and some mocks have him sneaking into the backend of the first round.
59. Jimmie Ward, S, Northern Illinois**Gratland.com's Bill Barnwell**
Analysis: There's not much you can do when you don't pick until the end of the second round. The Colts did little to replace Antoine Bethea, which means they'll likely add a safety in the draft. Ward would be a great value at 59.Bowen's Analysis:If the Colts can get Ward at No. 59, that would be a very, very solid selection from a need base aspect and best player available standpoint. Ward fits the mold as a "cover" safety and in his last two seasons at Northern Illinois, he had 21 pass deflections and 10 interceptions.
