FOXBORO, Mass. — The Indianapolis Colts (1-4) fell to the New England Patriots (3-2), 38-24, Thursday night at Gillette Stadium.
Here are updates from tonight's game:
FOURTH QUARTER
— The Colts, with 12 starters out of this game, are one score away from tying this thing up. Andrew Luck to tight end Erik Swoope for a 13-yard touchdown pass. Patriots 24, Colts 17 with 12:48 left in the fourth quarter. It was a 10-play, 80-yard drive that took 4:38 off the clock.
— Tom Brady has all day to throw. Still throws a pass into double coverage. Josh Gordon, somehow, comes down with it in the end zone 34 yards away. Patriots' lead now 31-17 with 9:19 left in the fourth quarter.
— Andrew Luck's pass slips out of the hands of Zach Pascal and it's picked off. On the very next play, Sony Michel runs it in from 34 yards out. Patriots extend their lead to 38-17 with 7:08 left in the fourth quarter.
— Injury update: S Matthias Farley (hamstring) is OUT.
— Andrew Luck to Eric Ebron, one-yard touchdown. Ebron has now tied his career high with his fifth touchdown grab of the season. Again, it's Week 5.
THIRD QUARTER
— Injury update: DT/DE Denico Autry (hamstring) is questionable to return.
— Injury update: S Clayton Geathers (neck, concussion) is OUT.
— Hey, a little momentum Indy's way. Andrew Luck fires a strike to Eric Ebron for a 14-yard touchdown pass, the tight end's fourth TD of the season. Colts now trail, 24-10 with 9:48 left in the third quarter. Ebron's career high in TDs? Five. It's Week 5. Also, credit Chester Rogers with setting that up, as he had a nice 33-yard punt return to get Indy to the New England 35-yard line to start the drive.
— Injury update: DT/DE Denico Autry (hamstring) is OUT.
— Matthias Farley with the interception of Tom Brady. Colts can make this a one-score game if they can get it into the end zone here. It's the third-career pick for Farley.
— Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski, but Matthias Farley knocks the ball out of the tight end's hands and Najee Goode recovers. Colts take over at their 20. The play really looked like it could've been ruled an interception, but we digress. (UPDATE: This was later changed to an interception by Goode, the first of his career.)
— At the end of the third quarter, the Patriots lead the Colts, 24-10.
SECOND QUARTER
— One-yard touchdown run by Tom Brady. Eight play, 72-yard drive that took 3:44 off the clock. Patriots lead 14-0 with 12:14 left in the 2Q.
— Injury update: S Clayton Geathers is also being evaluated for a concussion.
— Adam Vinatieri nails a 54-yard field goal. The Patriots' lead is 14-3 with 8:49 left in the second quarter. Tight end Eric Ebron was getting looked at by trainers on the bench during that drive, but returned.
— Injury update: S Clayton Geathers has cleared the concussion protocol, but is questionable to return with a neck injury.
— Injury updates: LB Anthony Walker (concussion) is out. DT Margus Hunt (knee) is questionable to return.
— Tom Brady six-yard touchdown pass to James White. Patriots now lead 21-3 with 1:34 left in the 2Q. 11-play, 68-yard drive that took 3:49.
— Patrick Chung picks off Andrew Luck here at the end of the first half. New England takes over near midfield.
— Stephen Gostkowski hits a 45-yard field goal to put the Patriots up 24-3 with 13 seconds left in the second quarter.
— At halftime, the Patriots lead the Colts, 24-3.
FIRST QUARTER
— Touchdown, New England. Patriots' opening drive goes 75 yards in 12 plays, takes 6:02 off the clock, and Tom Brady finds Cordarrelle Patterson for a one-yard touchdown pass on 3rd and Goal from the 1-yard line. Patriots 7, Colts 0 with 8:58 left in the first quarter.
— Injury update: LB Anthony Walker is being evaluated for a concussion.
— Adam Vinatieri's 38-yard field goal attempt hits off the left upright. 0:58 remains in the first quarter; Patriots lead 7-0.
