INDIANAPOLIS – Chuck Pagano should have quite a bit of familiarity with his newest assistant coaching hire.

On Wednesday evening, the Colts named Greg Williams the team's defensive backs coach.

For the last seven seasons, Williams has coached out in San Diego with Pagano's brother, John.

John Pagano has been the Chargers' defensive coordinator since 2012 and on the Chargers' staff for all of Williams' time in San Diego.

Williams' roles in San Diego were as the team's assistant defensive backs coach (2013-2015) and assistant linebackers coach (2009-2012).

Before moving to the professional ranks in 2009, Williams coached collegiately at several stops, including as a coaching intern at Arizona State (2003).

At Arizona State, Williams was on the same staff with current Colts defensive coordinator Ted Monachino. In 2003, Monachino was Arizona State's defensive line coach.

The Colts remaining openings on their staff are at running back, tight end and safety.
