INDIANAPOLIS –On Wednesday October 20, the Indianapolis Colts partnered with Cargo Services to provide 47 foster children with a special Colts experience. As a part of the "Books for Youth" program, the children were each given a backpack filled with 25 age-appropriate books. They also had the opportunity to meet Colts DB Melvin Bullitt, get photos with Colts Cheerleaders, enjoy snacks and visit the Colts In Motion traveling museum.

After receiving their backpack, the foster youth were given one more big surprise – a visit from their favorite NFL mascot! Blue did a special presentation of his P.R.I.D.E. show – a 45-minute interactive program that teaches children the importance of being Physically fit, Respecting others, making Intelligent decisions, having a healthy Diet and getting a good Education.

This event was one of four backpack distributions that Cargo Services hosted across the State of Indiana this year. Previous events included Fort Wayne, Evansville and Anderson, Ind.

About Books for Youth

On any given day in Marion County alone, more than 1,200 children are in the foster care system and too often they leave their belongings behind when they move.  The Colts and DCS have pledged to change that through the Books for Youth program, presented by Cargo Services. Through this program, we are placing 25 age- appropriate books into the hands of each and every foster youth in Indiana. To learn how you can support this program, visit www.colts.com/booksforyouth.
