The Colts on Friday ruled out cornerback Sauce Gardner (calf), wide receiver Anthony Gould (foot) and tackle Braden Smith (concussion, neck) for their Week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field, head coach Shane Steichen said. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner will not be activated from injured reserve this week, Steichen said.
Gardner will miss his second consecutive game with the injury he sustained early in the first quarter of the Colts' Week 13 loss to the Houston Texans.
Smith exited the Colts' Week 14 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars after being evaluated for a concussion. Without Smith, expect fourth-round rookie Jalen Travis to make his first NFL start at right tackle on Sunday against the Seahawks.
Gould sustained a foot injury in the Colts' Week 14 loss to the Jaguars. With Gould out and wide receiver Ashton Dulin on injured reserve, the Colts' are down their two primary kick returners; Gould is the Colts' main punt returner, too. Wide receiver Josh Downs returned punts when Gould was sidelined in Weeks 9 and 10.
The Colts earlier this week placed cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. on injured reserve following his third concussion of the season, which will sideline him for at least the final four games of the regular season. On Wednesday, the Colts opened Buckner's 21-day window to begin practicing while on injured reserve; Buckner (neck) was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday and Thursday's practices. Buckner can be activated off injured reserve any time in the next three weeks, though he will not play Sunday against the Seahawks.
