Started 42 games at the University of California, Berkeley (2016-2020) and registered 188 tackles (123 solo), 7.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, 29 passes defensed and six interceptions.
As a senior, he started four games in the shortened 2020 season and compiled 19 tackles (14 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss, two passes defensed and one interception. He was named First Team All-Pac-12 by the league's coaches.
In 2019, he earned Second Team All-Pac-12 honors by the league's coaches after he started 13 games and tallied 63 tackles (39 solo), 3.0 tackles for loss, nine passes defensed and one interception.
As a redshirt sophomore, he started 13 games in 2018 and posted 48 tackles (33 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, 10 passes defensed and two interceptions. He was an Associated Press Second Team All-Pac-12 selection.
In 2017, he started 12 games and totaled 58 tackles (37 solo), half a sack, eight passes defensed and two interceptions.

Attended Centennial high school in Corona, Calif.
In his two varsity seasons (2014-15) he compiled 136 tackles, 15 passes defensed, six interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.
He helped lead the team to win two conference titles, a Southern Section Pac 5 crown and an appearance in the state championship game during his 2015 senior campaign.
