In their final home game of the 2025 season on Sunday, the Colts lost their sixth consecutive game as they fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars by a score of 20-17. The Colts kept it close throughout the game and battled hard on both sides of the ball, but fell just short of getting the win.
The beginning of the game was all Colts, as they jumped out to an early 10-0 lead. A 53-yard kickoff return from wide receiver Ashton Dulin gave the Colts all the momentum to start, and kicker Blake Grupe connected on a 33-yard field goal on the Colts' first drive of the day.
The Jaguars, on their following drive, made it down to the red zone on a series of big-yardage plays, but their attempt to get fancy with a trick play failed. Trevor Lawrence tossed the football to Jakobi Meyers, who then tried to pitch it to Travis Etienne on the run – but Etienne lost control of the ball and Samson Ebukam leapt on top of it, giving the ball back to the Colts.
From there, Rivers marched the offense back down the field – this time, with impressive completions to tight ends Will Mallory and Tyler Warren – and within the first couple minutes of the second quarter, Taylor carried the ball across the goal line for his 20th touchdown of the season.
Lawrence and the Jaguars answered back on the next possession, however, going on a 12-play, 69-yard drive that ended in Lawrence scrambling in for a touchdown.
The Colts went three-and-out on their final two possessions of the second quarter. Their defense was able to force the Jaguars to do the same on their second-to-last possession with back-to-back sacks on Lawrence: the first by Laiatu Latu, and the second from a combined effort by Zaire Franklin and Adetomiwa Adebawore. The Jaguars looked like they would score one last time before halftime – they were lined up in the red zone with 21 seconds left – but linebacker Germaine Pratt intercepted a pass in the end zone intended for wide receiver Parker Washington to hold onto the Colts' lead.
The Jaguars received the ball to start the third quarter, but the Colts' defensive aggressiveness continued as Kenny Moore II tackled Lawrence for a loss of five yards and a pass breakup by Mekhi Blackmon forced the Jags to go three-and-out.
On their following possession, despite some highlight-reel pass breakups by cornerback Cameron Mitchell, the Jaguars continued to dominate the Colts defense and marched down the field to take the lead with another rushing touchdown from Lawrence.
A 55-yard return from Dulin set the Colts up at the Jaguars' 39-yard line, and a stellar toe-tap completion by Josh Downs moved the Colts to the 21-yard line. After an offensive holding call negated a Taylor touchdown and moved the Colts back 10 yards, Alec Pierce drew a defensive pass interference call and the Colts moved forward again, this time to the Jaguars' five-yard line.
Rivers then connected with tight end Mo Alie-Cox in the end zone to put the Colts back up 17-14; the score was Alie-Cox's first touchdown of the season.
After another tackle for a loss by Moore and an incomplete pass on third and three, the Jaguars had to settle for a field goal to tie the game with just over one minute remaining in the third quarter. The two teams then traded scoreless drives as the Colts forced a turnover on downs.
However, on third and three from their own 31-yard line, Rivers was intercepted by Jarrian Jones, who took the ball down to the Colts' 20-yard line. Thanks to three straight incompletions (featuring a tackle for a loss by Ebukam and a pass defensed by Neville Gallimore), the Jaguars once again had to settle for a field goal.
The Colts then turned the ball over on downs with just over three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter; Jaguars kicker Cam Little connected on a 53-yard field goal to give the Jaguars a 23-17 lead with 18 seconds left. Riley Leonard entered in place of Rivers with four seconds left but the Hail Mary attempt was intercepted in the end zone.
Sauce Gardner was announced as questionable to return with a calf injury in the third quarter. He did not return in Sunday's game.
The Colts face the Jacksonville Jaguars in an AFC South matchup in Week 17 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
