WESTFIELD, Ind. – Anthony Richardson is "good to go" and will participate in the Colts' first training camp practice of 2025 at 10 a.m. Wednesday, general manager Chris Ballard said Tuesday.
"We feel good about where he's at," Ballard said. "He's in great shape and is ready to hit it moving forward."
Richardson was held out of the end of the Colts' offseason program – including a three-day minicamp in June – due to an injury to his right (throwing) shoulder. Richardson in June sought and received a second opinion on his shoulder from renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache, which confirmed he did not need surgery and would recover quickly.
Ballard said Richardson began throwing again about three weeks ago.
"I'm proud of him," Ballard said. "He worked through it, he went to work, he's in great shape."
Ballard said the Colts will monitor Richardson's throw volume during training camp and might pull back on Day 2 or Day 3 of camp (the Colts open training camp with four consecutive days of practice, Wednesday through Saturday). Other than that, Richardson will operate with "no real restrictions," Ballard said.
Richardson in training camp will compete with veteran free agent signing Daniel Jones to be named the Colts' Week 1 starting quarterback. The 23-year-old Richardson enters his third year in the NFL having completed 50.6 percent of his passes for 2,391 yards with 11 passing touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 635 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.
