Attended D'lberville (Miss.) High School.
As a senior, was named the Class 6A Mississippi Mr. Football after he tallied 55 tackles, two interceptions and two blocked kicks as well as 106 carries for 1,005 yards and 19 touchdowns. Also added 28 receptions for 329 yards and one touchdown.
As a junior, recorded 74 tackles and one interception.
Earned all-conference accolades as a sophomore after he accumulated 43 tackles, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and one forced fumble.
Ranked the No. 9 prospect in Mississippi by Rivals.
Has two siblings, Jaden and Jordan. Jaden played college football at Mississippi State.
His cousin, Dee McCann, played football at West Virginia and also spent time in the NFL with the Detroit Lions (2006) and Minnesota Vikings (2007-08).
