COLLEGE:

• Appeared in 50 games at New Mexico State (2007-10) as a long snapper and tight end and tallied 66 receptions for 559 yards and two touchdowns.
• As a redshirt senior, he competed in 12 games and tallied a single-season career-high 41 receptions for 371 yards and one touchdown.
• In 2009, he appeared in 13 games and recorded 12 receptions for 112 yards and one touchdown. He also was the team's long snapper on field goals.
• As a redshirt sophomore, he saw action in 12 games and served as the long snapper on extra points, field goals and punts. He also registered 11 receptions for 70 yards.
• In 2007, he tallied two receptions for six yards.
• Redshirted the 2006 season at Tulsa.

PERSONAL:

• Attended China Springs (Texas) High School and competed as a tight end as well as special teams.
• As a senior, he tallied 50 receptions and earned first team all-district honors as a tight end and second team all-district accolades as a punter. 
• Also lettered in basketball and track.
• His grandfather, Roger Nelson, played in the CFL for 13 years with the Edmonton Eskimos. He was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame in 1985.
•  His father, Mark Nelson, played in the CFL for six seasons. He also coached in the CFL and at the NCAA level.
• Majored in individualized studies.
• Has worked with middle schoolers in Phoenix and has helped them learn the craft of long snapping.
• Represented JW House for the NFL's My Cause My Cleats initiative in 2017 and 2019.
