• Attended Greenwood (S.C.) High School and started on both sides of the ball.
• As a senior, he earned second team all-state honors after he rushed for 904 yards and 12 touchdowns while also adding 20 receptions for 210 yards. On defense he registered 77 tackles, eight passes defensed and two forced fumbles.
• As a junior, he tallied 516 rushing yards and nine touchdowns while also adding 93 tackles and one interception.
