Humphries is in his third season with the Colts and his first as assistant defensive line coach. He spent the previous two seasons as the team's defensive Dungy Fellow (2024-25). Humphries has 11 years of coaching experience, including seven seasons at the collegiate level.
He assisted with a Colts defense in 2025 that recorded a takeaway in a league-leading 15 games, finished seventh in the NFL in opponent rushing yards per game and 10th in lowest opponent passer rating (88.0). He guided second-year defensive end Laiatu Latu, who started 16 games and tallied 45 tackles (27 solo), team highs in tackles for loss (12.0) and sacks (8.5), five passes defensed, three interceptions and one forced fumble. He was the only player in the NFL to record at least 8.5 sacks and three interceptions in 2025. Additionally, Latu led all defensive linemen in interceptions. Humphries also assisted with defensive tackles Adetomiwa Adebawore and Neville Gallimore, both of whom tied or set single-season career highs in tackles for loss and sacks.
In 2024, Humphries worked with an Indianapolis defense that ranked tied for seventh in the NFL in takeaways (25) and tied for first in the league in red zone takeaways (six). Humphries coached defensive tackle Grover Stewart and helped him rank second in tackles (74) and seventh in solo tackles (29) among defensive tackles. He also guided DeForest Buckner, who reached at least 6.5 sacks for the seventh consecutive season. Buckner was one of two NFL players to accomplish that feat from 2018-24, joining Myles Garrett.
Prior to Indianapolis, Humphries was a graduate assistant for defense at the University of Kentucky for two seasons (2022-23), where he assisted primarily with the defensive line. He worked with Deone Walker, who earned First Team All-SEC honors from the Associated Press after leading the team in tackles for loss (12.5) and sacks (7.5) as a sophomore in 2023. Walker ranked eighth in the SEC in sacks.
