NEW YORK STATE OF MIND:Twenty-six prospects will be in attendance at Radio City Music Hall in New York City for Round 1 of the 2012 NFL Draft – the most in history. This year's total eclipses last year's record of 25 players.

A record five players from BCS National Champion Alabama will be on hand: S MARK BARRON, LB DONT'A HIGHTOWER, CB DRE KIRKPATRICK, RB TRENT RICHARDSONand LB COURTNEY UPSHAW. Louisiana State will have three players in attendance, while Baylor, South Carolina, Southern California and Stanford will each have two players in New York.

ROLL TIDE: If all five Alabama players are taken in Round 1, the Crimson Tide would tie for the second-most first round selections from one school in a single year since the advent of the common draft in 1967. The University of Miami had six first-round selections in 2004.

IT'S A QB LEAGUE: Stanford QB ANDREW LUCK and Baylor QB ROBERT GRIFFIN III each hopes to hear his name called first overall Thursday night. Should this occur, 2012 would mark the fourth consecutive year a quarterback is selected first overall – the second-longest streak in NFL Draft history. A quarterback was taken off the board first in each year from 2001-2005.

Thursday would mark the 31st time in NFL Draft history a quarterback is selected first overall – the most of any position – and the 10th time in the last 12 years.

BAYLOR DUO:Heisman Trophy winner and consensus first-team All American QB ROBERT GRIFFIN III should have his name called early on Thursday night. Griffin would become the first Baylor quarterback selected in the first round since 1967.

Griffin's college teammate WR KENDALL WRIGHT also hopes to have his name called in Round 1. If both players are selected in the first round, it would mark the second consecutive year Baylor would have two players selected on opening night. In 2011, PHIL TAYLOR (No. 21 overall, Cleveland) and DANNY WATKINS(No. 23, Philadelphia) became the first pair of Baylor players to be selected in Round 1 of an NFL Draft.

Baylor has had eight first-round picks since the inception of the common draft in 1967.

TANNEHILL TWO-STEP: Three-time first-team Academic All-Big XII QB RYAN TANNEHILL completed 327 passes in 2011, a Texas A&M single-season record, while his 29 touchdown passes in 2011 place second in team annals. Tannehill can become the first Texas A&M quarterback to be selected in the first round since the advent of the common draft in 1967.

It would be the second consecutive season the Aggie's had a first-round selection. In 2011, the Denver Broncos selected LB VON MILLER with the second overall pick.

EYE OF THE TIGER:In three of the past four NFL Drafts, Louisiana State has had one player drafted in the top five. This includes last year's fifth pick, Arizona Cardinals CB PATRICK PETERSON, the highest-drafted defensive back in school history.

After a standout collegiate career, CB MORRIS CLAIBORNE, the 2011 recipient of the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back, hopes to add his name to the list Thursday night. Fellow Tigers DT MICHAEL BROCKERS and WR RUEBEN RANDLE could also be selected in Round 1.

WAKE UP THE ECHOES: WR MICHAEL FLOYDleft his mark at Notre Dame, establishing school records in receptions (271), receiving yards (3,686) and touchdown catches (37). Floyd looks to become just the third Notre Dame wide receiver to be selected in the first round since 1967. GOING GLOBAL:Three players who first played football beyond the borders of the United States could be selected in the 2012 NFL Draft this week.

German defensive end MARKUS KUHN would become only the third European-trained player picked by a NFL team, following in the footsteps of fellow German Sebastian Vollmer (New England, 2009, R2, 58th overall) and Romeo Bandison (Washington, 1994, R3, 75th overall) from the Netherlands. Vollmer first played football with the Dusseldorf Panthers (Germany) and Bandison with the Amsterdam Crusaders (Netherlands).

Kuhn took his first steps onto the gridiron in his native Germany with the Weinheim Longhorns.  He finished the 2011 NCAA college football season as a starter at North Carolina State with 45 tackles, including 9.5 for loss and 4.5 sacks.

The past 30 NFL Drafts have featured 18 Canadians selected by NFL teams and two more stars from north of the border could join that list.

Baylor University offensive lineman PHILIP BLAKE, who was raised in Toronto, did not play the sport until his senior year at Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School.  He played at Champlain Regional College and Tyler Junior College and for the Bears became a three-year starter on the offensive line.

Boise State defensive end TYRONE CRAWFORD hails from Windsor, ON, and appeared in 13 games in 2011.  Crawford registered 32 tackles on the season (13 solo), including 13.5 tackles-for-loss – tied for most on the team – and 7 sacks, the second-most on the Broncos.
