With 7:32 left in the third quarter, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning baffled the Chargers. While the Chargers defense was still barking audibles, Manning snapped the ball and Reggie Wayne blazed by the unprepared defense. Wayne scooted 72 yards into the end zone to give the Colts the 17-14 lead.
