- Was a three-time First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, while earning Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State honors all three seasons.
- Started all 12 games he played in as a senior in 2015, totaling 78 tackles (44 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
- Selected as the only Football Championship Series player named to the Butkus Award Watch list and was invited to participate in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
- As a junior in 2014, started all 12 games played, compiling 93 tackles (55 solo), 7.5 tackles for loss, a career-high 4.0 sacks, five passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

- Attended Hollidaysburg (Pa.) Area High School where he was a four-year letterman and graduated holding school records for touchdowns and points scored.
- Was selected to the Pennsylvania Sports Writers Class 3A Second Team All-State in 2009 and 2010.
- Earned All-Keystone Conference honors as a linebacker in 2010 and was an All-Mountain Athletic Conference selection as a junior and sophomore.
- Was a four-year letterman on the basketball team.
- Participated in the NFL's My Cause My Cleats initiative and represented Global Christian Relief (2024), Damar (2022), Children of Fallen Patriots (2021), the Children's Bureau (2019) and the National Brain Tumor Society (2017-18).
- Spent time at a local high school and veteran's hospital as part of the team's Salute to Service initiative in 2016.
- Fitted students for new shoes and hats as part of the team's 2016 Cold Feet Warm Shoes event.
- Visited Riley Hospital during the holidays in 2016 and sang carols and distributed gifts to patients.
- Was a member of Sigma Mu Sigma and majored in kinesiology with a minor in public health.
