Tony Dungy Press Conference Quotes

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if Marvin Harrison will play) Wednesday “I probably can’t say without any doubt that he’ll play because I thought that he might play the last week and it didn’t work out that way.  He’s practicing and we’re planning on him starting, but we’ll have to see how it goes.

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if Marvin Harrison will play) *Wednesday *

"I probably can't say without any doubt that he'll play because I thought that he might play the last week and it didn't work out that way.  He's practicing and we're planning on him starting, but we'll have to see how it goes."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on having the entire group of receivers together) Wednesday

"It certainly would be nice.  That's what you plan on, but the thing that I've told my players all along is you can't get hung up on who's not playing.  We still have to win the game.  If (Antonio) Gates is in or out, they (Chargers) still have to win the game.  Usually the guys who get the chance to play, play well, so that's how we're going to approach this week."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on how the Colts played the Chargers during the season and the strange ending) Wednesday

"It was strange to watch it and disappointing in a lot of ways.  Those are the things you preach you can't let happen, especially on the road.  It was tough to watch. I wish I had saved my timeout if I had known things were going to go the way they did.  We needed that one more timeout at the end, but obviously we've learned from the league that's the way they are going to call that, so we have to adjust how we do that.  The reversal is what happens, I guess…I'm having a tough time knowing what to challenge and what not.  The lesson is don't put it in anybody else's hands."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on what this team has had to overcome to get in the playoffs and the national focus) Wednesday

"We've got a lot of the focus off of us, which is good.  We lost some players.  We had some injuries.  Nobody has viewed us as the exact same team from last year.  That has helped sell that message.  But I think that's been a good way to go and our players have bought into it that this is the 2007 team and we'll define where we are in these next few weeks."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if he saw any complacency coming back from the Super Bowl) Wednesday

"I didn't see any at all.  It started with the free agency as our guys came in to work in March knowing that we weren't going to have Nick Harper, Jason David, and Cato June and some of the others that were key for us in 2006.  They just jelled and had the right mentality ever since."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on Chargers QB Phillip Rivers) Wednesday

"He's obviously growing as a player.  He's won a ton of games the two years that he has started.  He's also won seven straight.  Bottom line is you have to win and he's done that pretty regularly."

HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the play of Bob Sanders and his nickname the Eraser) Wednesday

"Bob is a key player for us.  He's a big-play guy and he is a guy that raises everybody's play around him.  Our statistics are obviously a lot better defensively when he's in there.  John Madden asked me about him and I just said he's an eraser because guys make mistakes, but he's got the speed and the anticipation and the quickness to limit them, so we don't give up a lot of big plays when he's in there.  It kind of took on it's own legs from there."
