Gary West's home opener with Indianapolis Washington was canceled because of a power outage in the Gary area. The contest will not be made up.

In addition to scoring a goal in Wheeler's 5-2 loss to Lowell in boys' soccer on August 20, Tyne Vettickal had three receptions for 111 yards with three touchdowns, returned an interception 27 yards for a score, and also hauled in a two-point conversion in the Bearcats' 52-0 win over South Central.

Competing in his first game, Fountain Central's Ayden Batchelor came up with six catches for 239 yards with three touchdowns in the Mustangs' 26-21 loss to Southmont. The junior also plays tennis where he is the number one singles' performer and is a member of the baseball team.

North Central (Indianapolis) ended its 32-game losing streak with a 35-13 win over Brebeuf Jesuit.

Whitko saw its 19-game losing streak halted with a 30-22 win against Prairie Heights.

Paoli had its 17-game regular-season winning streak come to an end with a 33-0 loss to Boonville.

Bowman Academy ended a 15-game losing streak with a 58-12 thrashing of Christel House Manual.

Seeger halted Lafayette Central Catholic's 14-game regular-season winning streak with a 31-13 victory.

Avon snapped defending Class 5A state champion Decatur Central's nine-game winning streak with a 30-28 overtime triumph.

Brownsburg's John Hart picked up his 350th career victory with the Bulldogs' 36-23 win over Spalding (Maryland).

Kevin O'Shea of Twin Lakes earned his 250th career win with the Indians' 39-14 decision over North Montgomery.
