Coats for Kids Collection

Colts, WTHR, Salvation Army and Tuchman Cleaners team up to collect winter coats for children in need

INDIANAPOLIS – On Sunday, October 5, the Indianapolis Colts teamed up with WTHR, Tuchman Cleaners and The Salvation Army to host the "Coats for Kids" collection. Prior to the Colts vs. Ravens game, volunteers collected new and gently used coats from Colts fans for the "Bob Gregory Coats for Kids Campaign." Donations were collected at the Colts Community Collection Stations, presented by Toyota, located outside each Lucas Oil Stadium gate. Monetary donations were also accepted.

The first 2,000 fans who donated on Sunday received a gameday-safe clear cinch bag approved by the NFL.

This year the collection resulted in all-time highs for both coats and cash collected with totals of 3,121 coats and $8,855. A COLTSTRONG thank you goes out to all those who gave at this year's Coats for Kids Collection.

All proceeds will benefit the "Coats for Kids" campaign to distribute to children in Central Indiana who are in need of a warm coat. The Salvation Army, a partner of "Coats for Kids," facilitates monetary donations as a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Since WTHR, Tuchman Cleaners and the Salvation Army launched the program 28 years ago, more than 200,000 coats have been donated to help keep children in Central Indiana warm during the cold winter months. This year's "Coats for Kids" distribution will take place on Saturday, October 18th from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The Colts Gameday Collections program will continue to run throughout the 2014 season with a different charitable collection held prior to each home game. Upcoming collections include HopeLine from Verizon Wireless Cell Phone Collection and Meijer's SACKing Hunger Food Drive. A complete list of future collections is available at
