BROTHERLY LOVE

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is roughly five years older than Giants quarterback Eli Manning. They are the second and third sons of Archie Manning. Each has made two Super Bowls and as the Giants prepare for Sunday’s title match, Eli recounted an anecdote of brotherly love involving Peyton years ago.

INDIANAPOLIS – Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and Giants quarterback Eli Manning are one of the 22 sets of brothers who have appeared in Super Bowls.

Peyton helped direct Indianapolis to Super Bowls XLI and XLIV, while Eli has conducted Giants marches to Super Bowls XLII and XLVI.

Peyton is roughly five years older than Eli, and they are two of Archie and Olivia Manning's three sons.  The eldest, Cooper, is two years older than Peyton.

While Cooper and Peyton waged spirited battles growing up, Eli had his share of moments, too.  He recounted one such moment where Peyton administered some "brotherly" love years ago.

"I probably have quite a few of them, but to limit it to one – his most popular move, he would pin me down and take his knuckles and knock on my chest and make me name the 12 schools in the SEC (Southeastern Conference)," said Eli Manning.  "I didn't know them all at the time, but I quickly learned them.  It was a great learning technique.  I don't suggest anyone else try it out, but it definitely made me learn the schools of the SEC.

"Once I figured those out, he moved on.  There were 28 teams in the NFL at that point, so all teams in the NFL.  I had to get my studying on for that.  Then once I figured that out – the one I never got was the 10 brands of cigarettes.  When he really wanted to torture me and knew I had no shot of ever getting it, that's when I just started screaming for my mom or dad to come save me, or maybe Cooper.  That was his go-to move."

Peyton was a star quarterback at Tennessee, while Eli attended Mississippi, the same school where their father, Archie, starred years ago.

SUPER BOWL – Quote/Unquote

"Everybody envies the guys who win Super Bowls.  If you win one, you envy the guy who has won two.  If you win two, you envy the guy who has won three.  And the guy who wins four envies the guys who had the perfect season for Miami.  And the guys on that team envy the guys who are still playing football." – Steve Tasker, Buffalo Bills/CBS Sports
