HEAD COACH- JIM CALDWELL (on –practice Thursday night) *Thursday, August 05, 2010 *

"We thought we had a good spirited practice this evening. We got quite a bit done and had an opportunity to work on a number of different situations. Certainly got chances to kind of hone in our running game early on during our inside drill period and had a good two-minute drill period as well. That is a very, very important part of our operation on both sides of the ball. So we think we got a lot done today."

HEAD COACH- JIM CALDWELL (on –Dwight Freeney's health) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"He looks good and I think he feels good. You certainly could see him getting up the field with the usual power and speed that he uses most often, but he looks good right now."

HEAD COACH- JIM CALDWELL (on –the team's attitude under the lights in a night practice) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"There is no question they certainly like it. We have great crowds. The crowds have been extremely receptive and the guys really enjoy performing in front of them. So, it was a nice night tonight."

HEAD COACH- JIM CALDWELL (on –Freeney's reaction the crowd cheering for the offense) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"I think some times they (the crowd) may be partial to touchdowns, but nevertheless, I think there are a few that are out there screaming for him as well. I'm certain. But all in all, I think we got some good things done."

HEAD COACH- JIM CALDWELL (on –seeing the touchdown during the two-minute drill) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"I hope to see it quite a few more times."

HEAD COACH- JIM CALDWELL (on –what Coach is looking for from Addai) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"One of the things is the fact that he is healthy. I think he is feeling good. I think you can see that he is showing the speed and the quickness he has possessed. He has been a little nicked up from time to time in previous years. Last year before the end of the year I think he performed well and felt good. This year I think he is going to be able to put two of them back to back."

HEAD COACH- JIM CALDWELL (on –involving all of the running backs into the mix) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"That keeps some of the load off of just one back. They are all capable so it is an opportunity to spread it around because they all bring different things to the table and they play well."

HEAD COACH- JIM CALDWELL (on –shuffling the combinations of the offensive line) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"Obviously this will be some very important film to take a look at. So these next couple of days where we will be getting some pad work is a really good evaluation for us. I'm looking forward to seeing what they were able to do tonight."

RB- JOSEPH ADDAI (on –veterans helping younger players) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"Donald (Brown) last year came in asking a lot of questions and I kind of saw myself doing the same things with Dominic ( Rhodes). This year you just see (Donald) more confident. You would see him out there laughing throughout the day rather than have his head spinning. It is still early in training camp, but you can feel a good thing coming out of Donald. He wants to learn, he wants to get better, he wants to help, and that is the biggest thing. When you have somebody like that on your team that is always a good thing."

RB- JOSEPH ADDAI (on –crowd enthusiasm) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"It was nice the weather was good, too. The other day it was, man, I kind of make fun of some of the guys because they talk about how hot it is in Indianapolis and you go down south and it is really hot. But I kind of had my foot in my mouth the other day because I was just sweating.  Today was good, the crowd was in it and kind of got us ramped up, somewhat into game mode."

RB- JOSEPH ADDAI (on –what he is personally trying to accomplish at this camp) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"In camp I feel like you have to come in and work on your fundamentals. You start playing football at a young age so you know how to play football, but you work on techniques and along the guys on the side of you to gain a relationship. You want to build that togetherness with the players and that's what you have got to do with guys coming in all the time. I think that is the biggest thing, just really getting to know everybody and working on your fundamentals."

RB- JOSEPH ADDAI (on –how the offensive line is coming together) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"I feel like it is a different attitude. Everybody is trying to get the job done. We all go to the same meetings together. We all have the same game plan. Everybody is trying to get the job done. It is still early. We have a long way to go, but I feel like we are heading in the right direction."

RB- JOSEPH ADDAI (on –getting tired of hearing about the running game) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"All sides are always going to have something to say or whatever. In house, if we stay on point and we stay on what we are trying to do, we will be all right. That kind of comes with it and you have to be grown up to deal with it and I'm kind of past that."

RB- JOSEPH ADDAI (on –being better as a running back unit) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"Everybody can give to the game and show what they can do. You drafted Donald (Brown), you drafted Mike (Hart), you have the other two guys and everybody is trying to help the team. It's not about just one person. It is just whoever is in there, you are doing it for the team. That is kind of our mindset."

RB- JOSEPH ADDAI (on –veterans helping younger players) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"You can not, not give back. You have to do that regardless. You have to think team, and I think that is one of the reasons the Colts are good year after year. You want to do that and by doing that the older guys have to help the younger guys. You see Peyton (Manning) helping Curtis (Painter) all the time along with the other quarterbacks. He is always showing them how to go about things, and it would be wrong if myself or other veteran guys didn't do that."

DE- DWIGHT FREENEY (on –Thursday night's practice being fun) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"It's practice. It's under the lights and that's a good thing. I guess all the lights and all that stuff is for the fans and that's good for everybody to come out here and support. But it is business as usual for us."

DE- DWIGHT FREENEY (on –practice being a game-type atmosphere) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"(It's) kind of (like a game atmosphere). Other than the fact that they are only cheering for the offense, but it's all good."

(Laughs)

DE- DWIGHT FREENEY (on –the weather at night practice) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"Compared to last night's monsoon, definitely the weather worked out and we were able to get a lot of good work in today."

DE- DWIGHT FREENEY (on –how good the defense can be) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"The thing is we have been together as a group for a few years now at a lot of the positions. So, that definitely helps out. Whenever you can have guys stay around, stay around the program, then you kind of learn how to do things, and things are working really well right now."

DE- DWIGHT FREENEY (on –Bob Sanders' play at Thursday night's practice) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"It is good to see Bob back out there. Bob has a lot of energy and is going to help our team this year."

DE- DWIGHT FREENEY (on –night practices, again) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"This is real nice, under the lights. It is the closest you can get to actual game conditions for us. Obviously, I think this is more for the fans to get out there and see what we do in this type of atmosphere."

DE- DWIGHT FREENEY (on –the new turf on Anderson's game field) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"I love the new turf. It is not like inside our dome, it is a little bit hard. But me personally, I like it a little bit better than grass."

DE- DWIGHT FREENEY (on –getting the young guys involved this first week) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"I think it's important that this is what the whole preseason is for. Getting the young guys in there and getting them in the rotation and kind of see what they are able to do. They are doing a good job and us veterans are helping them along."

LB- GARY BRACKETT (on –being back with the defensive unit) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"Guys have been practicing and working hard. Coach Caldwell is very smart as far as our time management, making sure we get rest, making sure when we go out there and practice we get a lot of work done. So that's what we've been doing."

LB- GARY BRACKETT (on –Having all of the defensive starters return) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"We have to cherish these moments. The guys are back so we definitely want to get as much done as possible with everyone in and make sure the communication is down going into the regular season."

LB- GARY BRACKETT (on –Atmosphere favoring the offense) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"It's funny how that works. (Laughs) For a deep ball out of bounds, they cheer. I don't know if they are cheering for the defense or what, but we get it. They want to see some points put on the board. They love the defense, too. I guess we will have to wait until the regular season to hear those cheers."

LB- GARY BRACKETT (on –Freeney being healthy) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"I think so. It's funny how you are out there playing your position and it's hard to look at someone else. But I think watching film on him he is doing a good job. Dwight is a guy who has been around the block a few times so he knows what he needs to do to get his body in shape and ready to go for the regular season."

LB- GARY BRACKETT (on –seeing Sanders back making big hits) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"That's Bob's M.O., we know to watch out while we are out there because he might hit anything that is moving, make sure you get there first."

LB- GARY BRACKETT (on –difference of energy between day and night practice) Thursday, August 05, 2010

"People who went to work during the day come out there during the evenings. Everyone is off, hopefully, to bring their families out here. The crowd was electric. Unfortunately yesterday we got rained out, but they came back and it seemed like more people came today than yesterday. I'm excited they got a chance to see us go out there and practice. The temperature was great and we can't complain about the weather this time of year."
