Malik Hooker Tweaks Hamstring, On PUP List To Start Training Camp

Posted Jul 25, 2017

Intro: The Colts were dealt some more bad news at the safety position on Tuesday. Rookie Malik Hooker is on the PUP list after tweaking his hamstring during a conditioning test on Monday.

INDIANAPOLIS – The injury bug is already hitting the safety position for the Indianapolis Colts.

Rookie safety Malik Hooker tweaked his hamstring at Monday’s rookie conditioning test and the first-round pick is now on the physically unable to perform list to start Training Camp.

Hooker was expected to be full-go for the start of Training Camp after he sat out the entire offseason program because of a January surgery (hip and labrum).

With Hooker and Clayton Geathers now on PUP, the Colts are down two safeties that many expected to start in 2017.

Darius Butler, T.J. Green and Matthias Farley should get the early first-team looks when the Colts open up Training Camp this weekend.

Besides Hooker and Geathers, the Colts also officially placed Andrew Luck on the PUP list on Tuesday morning.

Brian Schwenke and Kendall Langford are scheduled to go on PUP this Saturday, when the veterans report for camp.

A further update on the extent of Hooker’s injury should come Sunday, when Chuck Pagano meets the media for the first time.

Hooker, Luck, Langford and Schwenke could come off of PUP at any time during the preseason. Whereas Geathers is expected to be sidelined into the month of October.
