QB-Peyton Manning

(on the start of camp) Training Camp

"Ready to go. We're excited.  Just looking forward to getting back in it.  I sent a little mass text message out to all the guys.  Everyone seems excited and looking forward to it."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on what's more fun, hosting SNL, visiting the White House, or starting camp in Terre Haute) Training Camp

"The off-season is over with and we are glad to be back.  The Saints season opener will be here before we know it.  So, we are here to get ready for that and looking forward to working hard.  We have some new players here, that, it's always a little different when you put the shoulder pads on and you go full speed.  We are looking forward to getting some good evaluations of our young players."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on not having OT-Tarik Glenn) Training Camp

"We will definitely miss Tarik.  He is my friend, he's all of our friend. He'll continue to be, but no longer a teammate and that part is a little bit sad and disappointing.  But he had to do what's best for him and I know (Offensive Line Coach) Howard Mudd will put somebody there that will be ready and that I will have complete trust in.  Howard had been doing this for a long time, so he has seen it all.  It will be a challenge there because Tarik had been such a great player for us for so many years, but it's the old cliché, 'Some new guys have to step up' and I believe they will."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on trusting a guy Howard Mudd puts in Glenn's place) Training Camp

"Certainly with any new teammate, or new starter, you have to kind of earn your stripes on the field, if you will, but that's where having a coach like Howard Mudd, having been in it for thirty-some-odd years who has seen all situations before- you put your trust in him and count on him to have the right guy there. "

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on arriving early and a few minutes behind WR-Anthony Gonzalez) Training Camp

"Well, I tell you, he [Gonzalez] is a guy who is kind of known for being somewhat of a gym rat and that kind of reputation sort of preceded him and I think that will hopefully pay dividends for him in his NFL career.  I've always believed that if you work hard in college in order to get drafted, you need to work even harder once you get into the NFL to try to excel as a player.  But in the short time that I've been around him, Anthony seems to have a great work ethic.  We are excited to get him out there on the field with full speed and pads and get in some of these preseason games and see what he really looks like."

QB-PEYTON MANNING (on his 10th training camp) Training Camp

"I kind of targeted the mini camps for a couple of needs; working with Anthony and working with Roy Hall, a new receiver and working with DeDe Dorsey, a new running back.  So, I think you just continue doing that here in the training camp.  There is a change in tempo.  You have the pads and everything, so, it's up tempo.  So, I think you continue to focus on a couple things at the same time, trying to keep your timing in good fashion with guys like Marvin (Harrison) and Reggie (Wayne) and Dallas (Clark).  I think this is where this team kind of finds its identity and tries and goes out and be another contender again this year."

"I was excited driving up here.  I was looking forward to it, to getting here.
