With The Returns Of Vontae Davis And Greg Toler, All 53 Colts Practice

Intro: For the second straight Thursday, the Colts had another healthy injury report. Along with Thursday’s injury report, here are updates from Chuck Pagano’s press conference.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Colts headed outdoors for practice on Thursday with temperatures still much colder than what Foxborough has forecasted for Sunday night.

Friday's injury report will be one to watch to see that Vontae Davis and Greg Toler continue to trend in the right direction.

Here are some headlines from Chuck Pagano, Pep Hamilton and Greg Manusky meeting the media on Thursday:

Roster Moves

The Indianapolis Colts today signed wide receiver Griff Whalen from the practice squad to the active roster, signed defensive end Gannon Conway to the practice squad and placed inside linebacker Josh McNary on the Exempt/Commissioner Permission list.Greg Manusky on if he's confident that Vontae Davis and Greg Toler will play on Sunday:

Bowen's Analysis:* *The two corners were elevated to a limited role at Thursday's practice. With the style of defense the Colts played in Denver, and typically employ, a healthy corner duo is a must to allow the defense to commit the necessary players into the box.

You would think if their health was in serious question for Sunday, the Colts would have added another corner to the 53-man roster. Again, the Colts have yet to have a player this year miss an entire week of practice and play the following Sunday/Monday so the return of Davis and Toler on Thursday is key. Chuck Pagano on if he was still stewing over the 2012 AFC Title loss to the Patriots when the Colts interviewed him a few days later:

"…Still am, to be honest with you."

Bowen's Analysis: Back in the 2012 AFC Championship, the Ravens (with Chuck Pagano as their defensive coordinator) missed a late field goal to end their Super Bowl run in Foxborough. Pagano would have little time to dwell on the loss with the Colts sending a plane for him to interview for the team's open head coach position.

If that field goal is made, odds are Pagano isn't the Colts head coach today. Three years later, Pagano heads back to the site of where his life took a sudden change, this time as the head man on the visiting sideline. While the Colts are the underdogs heading into Sunday, Pagano's message on Thursday reiterated how grateful he, and the team, is to be in such a position. No matter how little of a chance the Colts had to get to the AFC Championship, they are just 60 minutes away from Super Bowl XLIX and aren't taking that for granted.

Pep Hamilton on the Patriots holding T.Y. Hilton to three catches for 24 yards back in Week 11:

"I've got to do a better job of just finding ways to get T.Y. open so he can make the plays, and have a chance to make the plays, more importantly."

Bowen's Analysis: Back in Week 11, the Patriots used Kyle Arrington (their third cornerback) along with safety Devin McCourty to know of Hilton's whereabouts. That combination held the Colts Pro Bowler to a season low outing.

New England might change things up a bit personnel wise against Hilton but it's clear that they want to take away the Colts top offensive threat. Hilton's presence in the playoffs has clearly opened things up for others to get involved in the offense. There's Boom Herron catching 18 balls in 19 targets, an incredibly high rate. The tight ends for the Colts will once again be options for Andrew Luck with New England allowing the third most tight end receiving yards this season (Coby Fleener had 144 yards back in Week 11).

Here's the injury report from Thursday's practice:

-LIMITED- Vontae Davis (knee) and Greg Toler (groin).

-After missing Wednesday's practice, the Colts starting cornerback duo was back on Thursday.

-FULL- D'Qwell Jackson (rest) and Erik Walden (knee).

-For the second straight Thursday, the Colts had all 53 guys practice. That's just the third time that has happened all season long.
