What To Watch For In Week Three Of Colts Training Camp?

Intro: The Colts are heading back to Anderson on Saturday to begin the final five days of Training Camp. What should fans be looking for during the closing stretch of camp?

ANDERSON – We are in the final stretch of the 2014 Colts Training Camp.

The Colts are headed back up to Anderson University on Saturday for the final five days of practice.

There will be afternoon practices on each of the next four days with a morning practice from 10:20-12:30 scheduled for Wednesday, the final day of camp.

With the preseason opener behind the Colts on Thursday, what are the storylines heading into the last week of camp?

Will We See The First Team Offensive Line Stick Together?

On Thursday night, we got our initial glimpse of what the Colts 2014 offensive line could look like come September.

It lasted just seven plays before Khaled Holmes went down with a left ankle injury.

When Holmes left the game, undrafted rookie Jonotthan Harrison made his NFL debut with the first unit.

Rookie Jack Mewhort is the starter at left guard and has been a mainstay there since Donald Thomas' season ending injury. Mewhort has tremendous versatility along the line and has taken some snaps at center this offseason.

If Holmes is out for any period of time, will Harrison or Mewhort become the center?

If Mewhort slides over to center, veteran Lance Louis has started in the NFL before and would likely be the guy at left guard.

Throw in the ankle injury to rookie tackle Ulrick John and the Colts will almost assuredly be adding some offensive line bodies for the final week of camp. How Will The Secondary Shake Out With The Unit Starting To Get Healthy?

We saw the practice debuts of both Vontae Davis and LaRon Landry on Monday and Tuesday.

The reps increased for the duo on Tuesday before they both sat out Thursday's preseason opener.

Eyes have to be pointing towards August 16/August 23 for when Davis and Landry will get some game action.

Seeing the two fully participate in a practice this week would be the next step in an effort to try and create some much needed stability at the backend of the Colts defense.

For Landry, that means playing next to several different safety options as the Colts continue to evaluate starting candidates.

For Davis, it's continue to show the few flashes on display early last week when he returned to the practice field. He made several plays that showed why the Colts coveted him so highly this offseason. What To Make Of Guys Like Henoc Muamba and Erik Swoope?

Thursday was probably our longest extended look at second and third teamers until that final preseason game.

That means 15 players will be cut after the third preseason game, with their most playing time already in the books.

One player that turned some heads on Thursday was Henoc Muamba.

With the inside linebacker depth tested in the preseason opener, Muamba led the Colts with 11 tackles and a forced fumble.

He showed off that sideline-to-sideline speed and figures to be a key special teams contributor, along with providing stability behind starters D'Qwell Jackson and Jerrell Freeman.

Swoope, who has received high praise from both Chuck Pagano and Pep Hamilton, played nine snaps in his football debut on Thursday.

Both Jack Doyle and Weslye Saunders had nice evenings against the Jets serving as another indication of why the tight end group is one of the deepest positions on the team.
