"I think it's partly that. It's partly the fact that they're so explosive on offense. They're playing a lot of high-scoring games. People are throwing the ball against them. You lose your best pass rusher, it impacts you. It's probably a combination of the two. You play them, you feel like you're going to have to put up a lot of points. They have some big run stuffers in that 3-4 defense, and people are throwing the ball a lot against them."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if the Colts passing offense is coming together)
"We're getting sharper. We're getting better. We had some drops that's not really like us last week (vs. Houston) and we have to eliminate those, but we have thrown the ball better, crisper. I think we're protecting better, so all in all, I think it is coming at the right time."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on the progress of San Diego QB-Philip Rivers)
"You do see it, better decision making, more decisive, getting rid of the ball quicker and developing chemistry with those receivers. They have a lot of weaponry, and that sometimes is a problem for a young quarterback. You have so many options and so many ways to go. But, they throw the intermediate pass very well, that 15- to 18-yard pass, they get a lot of big chunks, and he's playing very well."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on Rivers)
"He plays with a lot of energy out there. I think he fires his guys up, he enjoys playing the game and you see a lot of the (NY Jets QB) Brett Favre-type of fun out there."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on DBs Kelvin Hayden and Bob Sanders)
"I think Kelvin will be ready to go. He went through (Thursday's) practice and seemed to do fine and was good (Friday). Bob will probably be a game-time decision, so we'll see what happens."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on what getting Hayden back does for the team)
"You're more comfortable, and it gives you, certainly, more depth. We actually went into these last few games with just three corners, so that part of it we feel much better about, that we can withstand injury a little bit better. We have a chance to play three true corners if we want to in nickel situations. It gives us more of a chance to play dime defenses, so it helps us in a lot of ways, even more than just getting your starting corner back."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on last year's game at San Diego)
"I thought that was a tremendous effort. It was disappointing that we didn't win because you had a lot of good things that happened with a lot of young, backup guys and really not having a full compliment of people, but we didn't finish it off at the end."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if he has ever been in a game like that one with so few players available)
"Not that I can remember. We started out with 44, and then we lost about four or five guys in the course of the game. Those guys did a good job."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if TE-Jamie Petrowski will play this week)
"I doubt it this week. He's learning the ropes, learning what we do. We'll get him acclimated as quick as we can, but I would doubt that he would play this week."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if the team had any injuries during the week)
"Not really. It's been a pretty uneventful week that way."
HEAD COACH TONY DUNGY (on if OG-Ryan Lilja is still progressing)
"He's working and practicing. We'll see how he does."
